How does the Lock-On Grip System for ATV/ Watercraft work? What is the difference between a Dual-Ply and a Lock-On Grip? Can I use hand guards with the Lock-On Grip System? How does the Lock-On Grip System for ATV/Watercraft work? Our ATV and Watercraft Lock-On grips function identically to one another. Both grip systems feature a soft rubber grip molded over a harder inner core. This hard core allows the grip to slide easily on and off your handlebars enabling you to change your grips in seconds. Once on the handlebars the grips are locked into place via two aluminum Lock Jaw Clamps which snap onto ears on either side of the grip. The Lock Jaw clamps clamp down onto your bars like a vise providing slip free performance under any conditions. I have switched to a twist throttle system. Will Your Lock-On Grips for ATV/PWC work with this system? No. Our Lock-On Grips for ATV and Watercraft are not designed to work with twist throttle systems. However, you can still use a Lock-On grip on the clutch side if you wanted. |
| What is the difference between a
Dual-Ply and a Lock-On Grip?
Dual-Ply grips are traditional slip-on grips. They feature a dual layer construction which gives the grip a tighter fit onto the handlebars and helps to prevent slipping. Lock-On grips feature a patented design which allows them to be installed or removed without any cutting, gluing, or wire ties and eliminates grip slippage completely. Both systems are designed for use with thumb-throttle systems only. |

Can I use hand guards with the Lock-On Grip System? The Lock-On Grip System includes removable bar end plugs designed to protect your grips in the event of a crash. These plugs can be left out or easily removed to accomodate hand guards or any other component on the end of your bars. |

My initial set of grips are worn. Where do I get replacement grips? Replacement Packs without the Lock Jaw clamps are available to replace your initial grips. These packs include the grips and end plugs only (your Lock Jaw Clamps can be reused with subsequent pairs of grips) for a slightly lower cost. Are Lock-On Grips thicker than my current dual-ply (dual-density) grips? The Lock-On Grip System uses the same technology as a dual-ply or dual density grip with a soft layer of rubber being laid over a harder inner layer. The inner layer of a Lock-On grip is simply harder than a standard dual compound grip allowing it to slide easily on and off your bars. Thus, a Lock-On grip is the same diameter (or very close to) a set of dual compound grips once they are installed onto your bars. |

Will Lock-On Grips work with my brand of handlebars? The Lock-On Grip System is designed to work with all handlebars that have a 7/8 inch outside diameter. Most of all handlebars on the market maintain this standard outside measurement. Please note that the end plugs are designed to fit bars with an inside diameter from 13-20mm. If your bars have a smaller or larger I.D. than this, you will still be able to install the grips, but the end plugs will not fit into your bars. |
